Okay so after reading my sister Melissa's blog on books she's read, I was inspired to do the same. I love reading- and I hope to expand my reading list even more.
I've decided to begin with what got me hooked on reading- which is something Melissa had posted about and I liked it, so I'm taking a 'page from her book' so to speak.
When I was first learning how to read I hated it. I felt stupid, and it seemed like a hopeless cause. But my parents encouraged me to read, telling me I'd love it when I finally learned. And despite my determination to hate it, they were right, I fell in love with books. There are times when I'll pick up a book and just know that it will be mine, and that it will be good; when that happens I am almost never wrong. My mom and Melissa have said that I often will pick books that they would never have looked at, but that they end up liking.

NANCY DREW
I would have to say, like Melissa, Nancy Drew was what really got me hooked. There had been other books before her, which I enjoyed, but it was she who kept me in the world of libraries. I loved trying to pick out clues and solving the crimes before Nancy announced 'who done it'. I'd read so much that my parents, who before had worked so hard to get me to read, would try hiding my books, and getting me to do other things, even watch t.v.! Like Melissa though, I too got mad at Ned, and soon just wished he'd get lost. Being older I look at her now and there isn't much there between us anymore, but I will always have a special place in my heart for her. :)


There was one book, it's a fairytale book, but I can't remember the name of the Author, I'll have to look it up later. But the book is called, "I-Know-Not-What, I-Know-Not-Where", and it has such beautiful art work in it. I first read it when we lived in Arizona, and ended up finding it about a year ago online, so I bought it. :)

I read other young adult books around this time, but I can't remember authors and titles right now, so I'll come back to those later.

BARBARA MICHAELS
Well it wasn't long after Nancy that I moved up to Barbara. I was probably about 10-12 when I started reading her. My mom and Melissa read her so I decided I wanted to as well. I loved her! But now I have to admit that I get a bit frustrated with her writing, so I'll only read her every now and then.

GEORGETTE HEYER
I started reading her around the same time I read Barbara, and it was pretty much for the same reason. I still love her! My favorite Books of hers are, "The Grand Sophy", and "Sylvester, or The Wicked Uncle". I don't think that I will ever stop enjoying her books, which are fun, sweet and romantic, without the trash. :P


Anyway those are some books that I started to read when I was younger. Here are some that I've read as a teenager, and older:

"KRISTEN BRITAIN
"The Green Rider" was one of those books that I picked up and new that it would be mine, and that it was going to be great. My family was camping, and we had to run to a store to pick up some things. My mom and I stopped by the books to look, and as I was going through I saw this book. I read the back and I turned to my mom and asked her if she would get it for me. She relented, and for most of the camping trip I read this book- it was the perfect surrounding for it, because most of the book takes place outside-so I could hear, and smell, and see what she was describing. I'd suggest anyone who reads it, read at least some of it outside! This book is about a girl Karigan (I think that's how you spell her name), who runs away from school and on her way home is pulled into a dying Green Riders mission. The Green Riders are messengers for the King, but they do a lot more than deliver messages for the King- they are warriors and also have magical brooches, each has unique powers. Anyway Karigan is now running from an enemy she doesn't quite know, to get a message to the King. Throughout the book she meets people and makes friends and enemy's. It is a really great book.

"Book of A Thousand Days"
I can't remember the author's name; I'll have to look it up as well. Melissa got this for me either for my birthday or Christmas about a year or two ago. I love this book. It is so beautiful, and sweet. The characters are very real. Reading this book brings me both joy and tears. It is about a serving girl who is locked into a tower with her mistress, who refuses to marry the man her father wants her to marry. The girl writes about their stay in this tower, that is supposed to last for about 7 years, and about their experiences outside of the tower- She stays loyal to her mistress throughout the book, but at the same time finds her own voice.
